Step-by-step instructions
Prep
Select an old picture frame in your desired size. Ensure the back of the frame is wide enough to be glued securely to the backing board.
Optional: Sand down the frame with our Mouse® Detail Sander to create your own finish. Leave raw for a rustic look, add a wood stain, or paint to complement your decor.
Step 1
Cut the backing board to fit the frame. For ease, draw around the frame in pencil on the backing board as a template.
If your frame has a recessed area that held the mount and glass, you can cut the board to fit inside for a flusher look. Ensure the lip of the frame is wide enough for the glue to hold the board in place.
Step 2
Paint the backing board with chalkboard paint and leave to dry.
Step 3
Glue the frame to the backing board using a suitable wood glue, then clamp together until set. If you don't have clamps, weigh down with books or other heavy objects.
Step 4
Screw in any attachments of your choice. We added a rail, but you could add hooks or other attachments depending on what you fancy.
Add a suitable hanging fixture to the back of the frame, such as a brass wire or D-ring bracket, ensuring it is securely attached.
Step 5
Drill a hole in your wall, add a weight-bearing hook, and clean up any mess - our POWERSERIES™ cordless stick vacuum will make this a breeze!
Step 6
Enjoy your new chalkboard!
